Resource Description
These are the resources that I started to include in my bank as I transitioned along the PYP journey. Prior to that, many of my resources were purely content based. The IB journey helped me develop more strategies and approaches for presenting content whilst simultaneously developing other skills.
Small adjustments can make big differences. When I started using questions to start lessons as opposed to learning objectives, straight away the thinking and engagement levels increased. I also revisited the question at the end of the session as a natural plenary and assessment of how the learning had developed.
Having children organise their thoughts on graphic organisers became a standard part of a lesson enabling collaboration, discussion, formulating thinking and far more opportunity for me to assess where they were at. Many more misconceptions emerged that were easily rectified by allowing children to really express where they were at before we moved on.
Check out the materials – I hope they are useful to you and your students.
